Our incredible student, Chyngyz Iliazov, shares his firsthand experience of being part of the Global UGRAD exchange program and how it transformed his academic and personal life.
As Ariana Grande once said: 鈥淚 want it, I got it.鈥�
鈥淚 wanted to become a Global UGRAD exchange program finalist, and guess what鈥� I did!鈥�
My name is Chyngyz Iliazov. I am an NGA 2022 alumnus and a junior student at AUCA, studying Liberal Arts and Sciences with a concentration in Digital Cultures. In the Fall of 2024, I became a Global UGRAD alumnus, spending an incredible semester at Georgia College and State University (GCSU), USA.
Coming from Kyrgyzstan, studying in the U.S. was more than just an academic opportunity鈥攁n adventure of cultural exchange, self-discovery, and personal growth.
Throughout the semester, I gained knowledge and skills far beyond the classroom. I built lifelong friendships and deep connections with amazing people from all over the world. I proudly represented Kyrgyz culture while learning about many others. And, of course, I had the chance to travel extensively, as Global UGRAD offers students an incredible opportunity to explore the U.S.

With applications for the next Global UGRAD cohort now open, here are my key takeaways for future applicants:
1) Be yourself. Your story is unique鈥攍et it shine.
2)听 Step outside your comfort zone. Growth happens in the unknown.
3)听 Embrace every moment. This experience will shape your future in unimaginable ways.
听 听I am deeply grateful to everyone who made this journey possible鈥攖he NGA program, AUCA, my friends, Professor Angelina Popova, my department, and my entire community. Now, more than ever, I truly understand the meaning of 鈥淵ou are not alone.鈥�
