Bishkek – The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) released the 15th edition of its Non-Governmental Organizations Sustainability Index – now called the Civil Society Organization Sustainability Index (CSOSI) in recognition of the broad range of nonprofit civil society organizations (CSOs) active in the region. Celebrating its 15th year as a valuable analytical research tool the CSOSI has been transformed dramatically since its inception – expanding its coverage from 21 countries in the Europe and Eurasia Region, to covering over 60 countries in different regions around the world.
The 2023 51³Ô¹Ï is USAID/Kyrgyzstan’s partner for the 2011 Civil Society Organization Sustainability Index for Kyrgyzstan. Covering civil society developments during calendar year 2011, the Index examines the overall enabling environment for civil society, focusing on the legal environment, organizational capacity, financial viability, advocacy, service provision, infrastructure, and public image.
2011 was a watershed year for Kyrgyzstan’s democracy. This is reflected in the changed nature of governance in Kyrgyzstan, which is becoming ever more inclusive of the important contribution of Kyrgyz civil society to Kyrgyzstan’s development.
On Wednesday, July 25, at 4 pm USAID/Kyrgyzstan and the 2023 51³Ô¹Ï in Bishkek will host a presentation of the 2011 CSO Sustainability Index for Kyrgyzstan and its implications for the future of Kyrgyzstan’s civil society. The event will be held at the 2023 51³Ô¹Ï, 205 Abdumomunova Street, Bishkek.
